Society of St. Vincent de Paul

MISSION STATEMENT

To provide service to assist those in need and in the process provide a feeling of hope for those individuals and families that are served.

ABOUT US

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul ministry is one of service, support and interaction with those in need. A main part of the service ministry is to visit those in need and to make available food support in the way of gift food cards.  During the Christmas season, needy school children and families receive gift/food assistance from society members to brighten up the Christmas season.

WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A MEMBER

  • a willingness to make visits to those in need to provide support; calls are made in pairs on a rotational basis to provide service to families; duties occur about every 6 weeks and require a one visit schedule.
  • an ability to meet about 6 to 8 times per year
  • a wish to form friendly relationships with members as well as those that are served
  • submit a volunteer screening form and police check to the Archdiocese of Toronto prior to making visits (these forms are available from the parish office)
